The Maxxis Shorty is a versatile mountain bike tire designed for aggressive trail and enduro riding, featuring a low-profile, tightly spaced knob pattern that excels in dry, loose conditions like sand, gravel, and hardpack. Its EXO sidewall protection enhances puncture resistance, while the 3C MaxxSpeed compound delivers fast-rolling efficiency and superior grip on technical descents. Tubeless-ready and available in 29-inch or 27.5-inch sizes, it weighs around 800g for responsive handling. Ideal for XC racing or all-mountain adventures in arid terrains, it underperforms in wet mud where knobs can pack up, potentially reducing traction.
These Maxxis Shorty tires have transformed my trail rides. Super low rolling resistance makes them fly on hardpack and flow trails, while the knobs bite perfectly in dry corners. No complaints—best upgrade for my XC bike yet!
Love the speed of the Shorty tires on dry trails; they roll efficiently and handle berms well. However, in wet or loose conditions, they slip too easily and don't clear mud. Decent for summer rides, but not versatile enough for all weather.
