The Maxxis Rekon is a versatile mountain bike tire designed for cross-country and trail riders seeking speed without sacrificing grip. Its ramped center tread rolls efficiently on hardpack and smooth trails, while widely spaced side knobs provide confident cornering and braking traction on varied terrain. Available in 2.25" to 2.6" widths with EXO or DoubleDown casings for puncture protection, it excels in dry to mixed conditions, offering lightweight performance (around 600-800g) and a supple ride. Ideal for XC racing or fast-paced trail loops, it handles climbs and descents admirably. Drawbacks include moderate mud-shedding and quicker wear on sharp rocks compared to burlier tires.
The Maxxis Rekon tires have transformed my trail rides. They roll super fast on hardpack and provide excellent cornering grip without feeling sluggish. Wore them through rocky sections without issues. Highly recommend for XC enthusiasts looking for speed and control.
I've put hundreds of miles on these Rekons and they're reliable for dry conditions. Great acceleration and low rolling resistance, but they can pack up a bit in loose dirt. Overall, a strong choice for most trail setups, just not ideal for mud.
Switched to Rekons and haven't looked back. They hook up amazingly on climbs and descents, with predictable handling that boosts confidence. Lightweight too, so no drag on long rides. These tires make every pedal stroke count.
As a weekend warrior, the Rekon tires suit my mixed terrain rides perfectly. They handle roots and rocks well, and the tread wears evenly over time. No punctures in months of use—fantastic value for the performance.
Rekons are quick and fun on dry trails, offering balanced traction for technical sections. They shine in speed but slip a little on wet roots. Still, they're my go-to for most conditions and last longer than expected.
