Outstanding grip on mixed terrain

I've been riding the WTB Riddler tires for months now on my gravel bike, and they perform exceptionally well in a variety of conditions. The knobs provide excellent traction on loose gravel and even light mud without feeling sluggish on pavement. Highly recommend for anyone serious about off-road cycling.

solid choice for cyclocross

These tires have been a game-changer for my local cyclocross races. They corner predictably and shed mud better than my old setup. Only downside is they're a bit heavy, but the durability makes up for it.

decent but not amazing

The WTB Riddler offers okay performance on dry trails, but in wet conditions, they can feel slippery. Installation was easy, but I expected more from the hype. Might switch to something else for rougher rides.

Good all-around performer

These tires strike a nice balance between speed and grip. I've used them on long gravel tours and they hold up well, though they wear a bit faster on asphalt than I'd like.

Frequently Asked Questions

The WTB Riddler is designed primarily for gravel and mixed-terrain riding, offering a balance of speed on smoother surfaces and grip on loose gravel. Its fast-rolling center tread with aggressive side knobs makes it ideal for adventure cyclists who encounter varied conditions like dirt roads, light trails, and pavement. Riders appreciate its versatility for bikepacking or daily commutes that include off-road sections.

Yes, the WTB Riddler is available in TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) versions, allowing for easy tubeless installation and setup. This feature helps reduce rolling resistance and improves puncture protection when used with sealant. For those preferring inner tubes, it also works well in standard clincher setups.

The Riddler's low-profile center knobs provide efficient rolling on hardpack and pavement, while the ramped side lugs offer confident cornering on gravel and loose surfaces. It handles light mud decently but may require more effort in deep, wet conditions compared to full knobby tires. Overall, it's praised for its predictable handling across mixed terrains without sacrificing too much speed.

The WTB Riddler comes in popular widths like 37mm, 45mm, and 50mm, fitting standard gravel and adventure bike rims. These sizes cater to different rider preferences, from faster setups on narrower rims to more stable options for rougher paths. Always check your bike's clearance to ensure compatibility with your frame and fork.

The Riddler features a durable casing with options for added puncture protection, making it reliable for regular gravel adventures and commuting. Its compound balances longevity with grip, resisting wear on abrasive surfaces without being overly heavy. Many users report good mileage over extended rides, especially when paired with proper inflation and maintenance.

The WTB Riddler is lightweight for its category, typically weighing around 400-500 grams depending on the size and casing variant, which contributes to efficient pedaling on longer rides. This makes it a great choice for riders seeking performance without excessive bulk. Lighter weights enhance acceleration and climbing, ideal for gravel racing or spirited group rides.

While primarily a gravel tire, the narrower versions of the WTB Riddler can work on road bikes for mixed-surface routes, providing better grip than slick tires on occasional gravel. However, it may feel slightly slower on pure pavement due to the tread pattern. It's a solid option for all-road or endurance riders who venture off the beaten path.

The Riddler includes reinforced casings in select models, such as the SG2 version, which enhance sidewall strength and reduce the risk of flats from thorns or rocks. When set up tubeless with sealant, it provides even better protection for rough terrain. Riders often find it offers excellent value in balancing protection with ride quality for unpaved adventures.
