The Maxxis Receptor is a versatile gravel tire designed for adventure riders tackling mixed terrain. Featuring a semi-slick center tread for efficient rolling on pavement and shoulder knobs for confident grip on loose gravel, dirt, and light trails, it excels in speed and stability. Tubeless-ready with EXO puncture protection, it offers durability for long rides while maintaining low rolling resistance. Ideal for gravel racing, bikepacking, or daily commutes blending roads and paths, it provides excellent value for all-season performance. However, it may underperform in deep mud or extreme wet conditions compared to more aggressive knobby tires.
I've been riding the Maxxis Receptor tires for months now, and they handle everything from dry pavement to rainy commutes without slipping. Super durable too—no punctures yet on rough trails.
These tires are great for daily rides. Good traction and lightweight, but they wear a bit faster than expected on gravel. Still, worth the price for the balance.
Switched to Maxxis Receptor and it's transformed my mountain biking. Incredible puncture resistance, rolls smoothly over roots and rocks, and the sidewall protection has saved me multiple times. Highly recommend for aggressive trails.
